I held off on this one for years because the synths and drum machines felt like a sellout, but the remaster finally lets the bass breathe and the songs make sense now. The bonus disc of early mixes is the real draw for me.

The 5CD/1BD set finally gives this 1984 album the treatment it deserved — the remaster pulls the synths and drum machines forward without burying the flute. Disc 2's session outtakes alone were worth the price for me.

Natalie E. ★★★★★

Wasn't sure the drum machines would hold up four decades later, but the 5CD set makes a solid case for them. Disc three's alternate mixes are the real draw here, and the BD finally gives the concert footage the picture it deserved.
