Alun perin julkaistu vuonna 2002 juhlistamaan yhtyeen 40-vuotista taivalta, Forty Licks oli valtava kaupallinen menestys, ja sitä myytiin yli 7 miljoonaa kappaletta ympäri maailmaa.
Yleisesti heidän kattavimpana uran kattavana kokoelmalevyllään pidetty Forty Licks julkaistaan rajoitettuna painoksena 4 x 180g väri vinyylinä, joka on pakattu leveäkantiseen gatefold-kansioon.
Wasn't sure the coloured vinyl would sound this clean, but side one of disc three is dead quiet with zero surface noise. Having all forty years spread across four LPs instead of crammed onto two makes a real difference on the quieter tracks.
The 180g pressing sounds fantastic, dead quiet between tracks with none of the surface noise I half expected from coloured vinyl. Four LPs of the hits spread out like this beats flipping a single disc every three songs.
Bought this mainly for the coloured vinyl and wasn't disappointed—the four records look great spread out and the 180g weight feels solid in the hand. Only gripe is that a couple of the inner sleeves were a bit tight, but the sound itself is clean across all four LPs.
