BALANCE (EXPANDED EDITION) features Van Halen's multi-platinum 10th studio album with remastered audio, plus a rarities disc featuring B-sides and eight previously unreleased live performances from London's Wembley Stadium (June 24, 1995).
Contains the singles "Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)," "Can't Stop Lovin' You" and "Amsterdam."
The rarities disc is the real draw here, especially those eight unreleased live tracks — the crowd noise and guitar tone on them sound raw in the best way. Main album remaster holds up too, and the two-disc packaging feels worth the shelf space.
The remastered audio on the main disc genuinely surprised me — the low end has way more punch than the copy I've had since the 90s. And getting the B-sides on a second disc instead of scattered bonus tracks is exactly how this should've been done.
The eight unreleased live tracks are the real draw here — the band sounds loose and hungry in a way the studio versions don't quite capture. Rarities disc alone is worth the price, and the remaster holds up too.
