3rd Bass debutstudioalbum, The Cactus Album släpptes den 23 september 1989 genom Def Jam Recordings. Detta album blandar old-school 80-talshiphop med ett fräscht 90-talssound. Det kritikerrosade albumet visar inte bara 3rd Bass lyriska geni utan befäster också deras status som en betydande influens inom hiphopens historia.
