Celebrating the 40th anniversary of Junk Culture, the fifth studio album and one of OMD’s most successful and acclaimed records. This expanded 2 LP set is cut at half-speed by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and pressed on blue and purple 180g vinyl. Featuring 15 bonus tracks – including B-sides “The Avenue,” “Wrappup,” the re-recorded version of “Julia’s Song,” as well as 12” versions of original album tracks “Locomotion,” “Tesla Girls,” and “Talking Loud and Clear.” Also included are three of the Highland Studios demos which are new to vinyl.

Wasn't sure the blue and purple vinyl would look as good in person as in the photos, but it's gorgeous. The 40th anniversary expanded 2LP gives the tracks room to breathe, and the half-speed mastering keeps everything clean and detailed.

Miles Showell's half-speed cut really opens up the synths on this one — the low end on "Locomotion" feels noticeably deeper than my old pressing. The expanded second LP of B-sides and remixes is a nice bonus I wasn't expecting to enjoy this much.

The half-speed cut makes a real difference — the synths on "Locomotion" sound wider and the drums hit cleaner than the copy I've been listening to for years. Dead quiet blue and purple vinyl too, barely any surface noise.
