Aurora ★★★★★

Six discs of mono Coltrane for this price felt almost too good to be true, but the cardboard sleeve holds up fine and the discs sit snugly without scratching. Hearing the original mono masters instead of the stereo remixes is the real draw here.

Six discs of mono Coltrane is exactly what I wanted, and hearing the original mono masters instead of the stereo remixes makes a real difference on something like Giant Steps. The cardboard sleeves are a bit tight, but that's a small thing. Worth every penny.

The mono mixes on these discs sound warmer and more present than the stereo versions I've heard, especially the horns on the earlier sessions. My only gripe is the cardboard sleeves—a couple of discs came out with light scuffs, though they play fine. Six CDs for the price is solid.
